Bloody Mary 00

I've said it before, but it bears repeating.  Manga is one of the holes in my nerd knowledge (along with Doctor Who and Dungeons and Dragons, but those are different stories).  I just don't know much about it.  After seeing some of the titles out there, I'm definitely interested and I'm looking forward to checking them out.  Case in point: Viz Media has announced the upcoming release of Bloody Mary, a new supernatural drama series from creator Akaza Samamiya in December.

Bloody Mary follows the title character who is not your typical vampire.  Sunlight has no effect on him.  He can be seen in mirrors.  He won't drink blood.  Ok...that kind of sounds like your average dude.  The difference is that he wants 17 year old student and priest Maria to kill him.  Maria does not know how to kill vampires though, so it's a bit of a non-starter.  Mary agrees to become Maria's bodyguard until Maria can find a way to kill him.

Bloody Mary is a supernatural drama infused with suspense, cheeky humor and unique characters. We invite shojo readers to catch the debut of VIZ Media’s new release next month,” says Erica Yee, Editor.

I'll admit that the names of the two main characters might be a little confusing, but I'll give it a whirl. Bloody Mary will be published under the Shojo Beat imprint beginning on December 1st, 2015.  It will be available in print, as well as digitally across multiple platforms.
