VALIANT EXPLORES COMMANDER TRILL'S ORIGIN IN DECEMBER
X-O Manowar is marching towards a landmark 50th issue and Valiant Entertainment is pulling out all the stops. The publisher has announced a special one-shot that will explore the backstory of X-O Manowar's nemesis, Commander Trill. Debuting in December, the book is written by Robert Venditti and illustrated by Francis Portela. It will also serve as a nice jumping on point for new readers interested in diving into Valiant's flagship title. I'm almost caught up myself so this is going to be right up my alley.
Commander Trill has faced nothing but pain and consequence since Aric of Dacia came into his life and escaped with the X-O Manowar armor. Now the alien general is about to embark on his most devastating assault yet, so what better time to reflect on those battle scars and origin of the Vine's mightiest military leader?

“Since the very first issue, Commander Trill has been a central piece of the X-O Manowar mythology and now, for the very first time, we’re going to see just how deep his influence truly runs,” said series editor Tom Brennan. “From Master Darque to Toyo Harada to the Immortal Enemy, Valiant’s antagonists are just as compelling as its heroes. Trill is no exception and his long-awaited origin story will not only reveal a tale that Robert Venditti has been building towards for years, but will also pave the way for the epic shake-ups leading into X-O Manowar’s milestone 50th issue in the new year.”
X-O Manowar: Commander Trill #0 will feature covers by Phil Jimenez, Cary Nord, and David Lafuente. It's scheduled for release in December and will retail for $3.99.
