TITAN COMICS LAUNCHES RIVERS OF LONDON COMICS
Titan Comics has been aggressively increasing its line of comics of late. The latest addition is an all-new Rivers of London comic, based on the best-selling novels by Ben Aaronovitch. The publisher will be releasing a five-issue mini-series beginning in July, written by Aaronovitch and Doctor Who showrunner Andrew Cartmel with art from Lee Sullivan.
The novels (and this comic) follow Peter Grant, a young officer in the London Metropolitan Police who is recruited into a special branch of the Met that deals with magic and the supernatural. The comic, entitled Body Work, will be set between Book 4, Broken Homes and Book 5, Foxglove Summer and it’s in continuity. Here’s the write-up from the publisher:
Peter Grant has come a long way since first entering the special branch of London's Metropolitan Police. With his hard-earned powers and a flair for the supernatural, it's his job to investigate those shadowy crimes that involve urban vampires, weird folk in the Underground and, in this case, why cars are suddenly taking on lives of their own and killing innocent people!
I was unfamiliar with Rivers of London prior to this announcement, but this sounds like a kind of cool. I love the idea of supernatural detectives and secret organizations like the B.P.R.D. The killer cars sounds a bit like Monster Motors which is certainly not a bad thing.
Rivers of London: Body Work #1 debuts on July 15th, 2015 in comic shops and your favorite digital device.
