With the 2016 election season rapidly approaching, it's about time we had a horror comic showing what might happen if the First Lady of the United States literally transformed into a monster, right?  That's just the tip of the iceberg with The Eighth Seal, written by James Tynion IV and illustrated by Jeremy Rock.  The series, originally published digitally through Mark Waid's Thrillbent, is coming to print in December thanks to IDW Publishing.

The Eighth Seal follows the aforementioned First Lady as she struggles with visceral nightmares about transforming into a demonic monster.  You can imagine how inconvenient that can be when those dreams start to bleed into reality under an intense political spotlight.  She's lost her civilian lifestyle and now her mind is not far behind.  Do these visions hold some darker truth?

"The Eighth Seal is the purest work of horror I've tackled in my career, and I'm thrilled to see it come to life again in print," said series writer, Tynion IV. “There's nothing more frightening than the distinct feeling that you're going insane, that something in you has twisted and is pulling you towards your darkest instincts... It's the fear that something inside of you can destroy everything you love. And when you're the First Lady of the United States, the stakes are only that much higher."

This is the latest in a string of comics that IDW Publishing has brought to print as a result of its partnership with Thrillbent.  It also has a similar deal in place with Monkeybrain Comics.  Both have led to the print release of some pretty awesome comics.  This one sounds like something right up my alley and I can't wait to check it out.  Tynion IV is already writing some of my favorite current titles so I'm definitely interested in seeing what this one has in store.  Granted, I can look it up on Thrillbent right now if I don't want to wait until December.
