THE BLACKOUT CLUB BRINGS STRANGER THINGS VIBES IN 2019

Studio: Question
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Release date: Q1 2019

The Blackout Club is a first-person co-op survival horror title in development by Question, a small studio consisting of AAA developers who previously worked on the likes of BioShock and Dishonored. The game is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in Q1 of 2019, giving us all plenty of time to get hyped.

The Blackout Club features a Stranger Things vibe with a group of young teens searching for their missing friend while trying to outwit an otherworldly presence, all in a town where the adults don’t want to believe anything is amiss. These teens have been experiencing blackouts, waking up in different places, not knowing how they got there – and then one time, their friend doesn’t come back. Within these blackouts they also see strange creatures that can only be seen when players close their eyes.

Players must make their way from A to B while working together to capture footage of these creatures’ existence, but this means each player must occasionally become bait to lure them out. Making it through each level gives players the chance to upgrade up their characters with different abilities suited to their playstyle, whether that be a stealthy approach, less stealthy approach, or even as a ‘hacker’, though we don’t yet know what kind of abilities these playstyles will bring.

Survive long enough and you may find out the truth behind the mysteries of the little town, discovering what the creatures are and just how much the adults around you actually know. Until we find out more, keep the light aimed on The Blackout Club by checking on Question’s website or the game’s website. There's even a newsletter you can sign up to for new information. You wouldn't want to be kept in the dark, would you?
