Movie monsters from The Ring and The Grudge 'get the chop' ahead of their red carpet premiere at Toronto Film Festival
Sadako and Kayako, two of the most recognisable movie ghouls from Japanese cinema, hit the salon to get the cop before appearing on stage ahead of the TIFF screening of their film Sadako Vs. Kayako. The film will be released exclusively through Shudder, AMC's on-demand horror streaming service, which is currently available in the US and coming soon to Canada and the UK.
THE RING meets THE GRUDGE as two legendary icons of Japanese horror clash for the supernatural battle of the year to decide which worst fear is truly the worst. Yuri discovers a dusty videotape stuck in an old VCR and watching it with her friend Natsumi realise they are doomed to die by Sadako’s hand after the dreaded phone call. In another part of town, Suzuka has wandered into the haunted Saeki house making her the target of the cursed Kayako. Can the students combine their predicaments to finally ghostbust into oblivion the infamous spectres? The ultimate face-off exorcism begins.
Shudder is curated by TIFF Midnight Madness programmer Colin Geddes and former Fangoria editor Sam Zimmerman. Featuring lots of great content on the site: breakout independent hits such as Let the Right One In, LFO, Cold Prey, The Innkeepers, Pontypool, Jug Face and the V/H/S franchise, cult classics and essentials such as Nekromantik, Who Can Kill A Child, Hellraiser and rarities from the Hammer vaults. Shudder also unearths shorts and short form series as well as handpicks Horror TV shows from around the world and also enlist master guest curators as SHUDDER already does in the US (Robert Eggers, for example, recently handpicked a collection in the US).
