Who would win in a fight?  The Angry Birds?  Or the Plants from Plants vs. Zombies?  It's probably a pretty even fight, no?  If we're talking about a battle of comics, Plants vs. Zombies may edge out those birds, especially since Dark Horse Comics has announced another title debuting in October in addition to the two previous series (Lawnmageddon and Timepocalypse) and the ongoing series, Bully for You.  The new title, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is set between the first and second games in the new Garden Warfare franchise, exploring how Dr. Zomboss has conquered the lush plant utopia of Surburbia.

Written by Paul Tobin (who wrote the previous PvZ comics and did a great job!) and illustrated by Jacob Chabot, the new comic shows the evil-genius leader with a whole new set of tricks.  Unlike previous endeavors, this time he's succeeding thanks to his mighty Imp and Z-Mech.  Nate and Patrice, the zombie-brawling scamps from the other comics must find horticultural help from the future and the past if they hope to defeat Dr. Zomboss.  All this and Crazy Dave misses out on an ice cream cruise!

“We’re excited to partner with Dark Horse Comics to tell the origin story of how Dr. Zomboss came to power in Suburbia,” said Jeremy Vanhoozer, senior creative director at PopCap Games. “This pivotal moment in Plants vs. Zombies history is entertaining and hilarious, and will draw readers into this crazy world with these over-the-top characters like never before. I can’t wait for fans to get their hands on this new series.”

I've only ever played the first Plants vs. Zombies game.  I have loved all of the comics though.  Tobin delivers on all-ages humor that seriously works for all ages.  It's smart and funny, making this the kind of comic that will leave a smile on your face.

The first issue of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is set to debut on October 28th, 2015.
