MORE DETAILS REVEALED FOR ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK COMIC

After the success of the Big Trouble in Little China comic, BOOM! Studios is expanding the line of John Carpenter / Kurt Russell adaptations with Escape from New York beginning in December 2014. The new ongoing series, written by Christopher Sebela and illustrated by Diego Barreto picks up where the film left off with Snake Plissken touring a country on the brink of World War III.

"After bringing back Jack Burton, we knew we had to revive Snake Plissken," said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. "The new stories we have in mind for Snake are going to really excite longtime fans, and those who have never seen the film will be able to jump right in with America's Most Wanted man. It's a great time to be a John Carpenter fan!"

The Escape from New York comic features a crime rate that has risen 400 percent in the United States. Snake Plissken is America's Most Wanted after he humiliated the President in front of the world and destroyed the country's one chance to end World War III. That's an impressive feat given the aforementioned statistic and the fact that the place is filled with criminals and crazies. Everyone wants him dead which is a feeling he's very familiar with.

Escape from New York #1 debuts on December 3rd, 2014 and will retail for $3.99. The main covers are illustrated by Declan Shalvey and Tim Bradstreet. Retailer incentive covers will be available by Riley Rossmo, Jay Shaw, and Alice X. Zhang. I sure hope that BOOM! Continues this trend with other Kurt Russell movies. Can we get a Death Proof comic? Tombstone? The Thing? Captain Ron?
