MONSTROUS BRINGS FRANKENSTEIN AND HIS MONSTER TO BLOWS
I am loving all these books that have been popping up, theorizing what happened after Mary Shelley's Frankenstein ended. Source Point Press has announced a new title in the fray with Monstrous. Written by Greg Wright and illustrated by Ken Lamug, the four-issue mini-series pits the good Dr. Frankenstein against his creation in an all out war. He's built robots. The monster has built more monsters. Stuck in the middle are townspeople, giant rabbit monsters, steam-powered cyborgs, and babysitting bank robbers caught up in the changes sweeping across Europe in the wake of Dr. Frankenstein's mad science.
“It’s not like any other comic available today. It takes classic monster characters—like Dr. Frankenstein, Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, and Igor—and gives them a fresh jolt of electricity. This world features steam-powered robots, voodoo magic, and more blaster fights than you can shake a lightning rod at. Plus, whatever your tastes, there is something in these books to get excited about: jokes, adventures, chills, mysteries, and more!” says Wright.
Monstrous #1 is set for release on February 17th in stores and digitally through ComiXology and Drivethru Comics. The publisher has launched a Kickstarter campaign for fans to pre-order the book which has already met its modest goal of $1,000. If you're interested in some super rare variant covers, that's the place to go.
