MAYDAY COMING TO TV FROM TIM KRING AND BLACK MASK STUDIOS
Indie publisher Black Mask Studios is proving to be quite the entertainment powerhouse. The company already has a few adaptations in development with The Disciples from Steve Niles and Christopher Mitten with a guy you might have heard of named Wes Craven plus Five Ghosts from Frank Barbiere and Chris Mooneyham through Syfy. Now the TV slate gets a little bigger as Black Mask has announced the recently released Mayday is already heading to the small screen.
The first issue of Mayday just debuted last week from writer Curt Pires and artist Chris Peterson. The scripted TV adaptation is being helmed by Imperative Entertainment, a company run by Heroes creator Tim Kring, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas, and Zak Kadison. Black Mask co-founders Matt Pizzolo and Brett Gurewitz will executive produce alongside Imperative. No writer has been announced just yet. Here’s the write up on the book from the publisher:
Mayday lives in the underbelly of the Hollywood scene, where a washed-up, drug-addicted screenwriter and a transgender bartender stumble onto a Satanic cult’s plan to sacrifice people all across LA and bring on Armageddon. As our damaged heroes embark on a suicide mission to stop the crazy cultists, they begin to wonder if this is all really happening or if they're just plain crazy… Probably both.
That’s the kind of thing that you have to love comics for. Where else are you going to get an idea like that?
