LUCAS STAND TRAVELS THROUGH TIME AND FIGHTS DEMONS
Comic convention season is in full swing which means my inbox is getting pummeled with all the press releases. I'm struggling to keep up with all the announcements. One thing is for certain though. There are some pretty awesome funny books coming out in the near future. Case in point: Lucas Stand, a six-issue mini-series set to debut in June from BOOM! Studios which was announced a couple weeks ago at WonderCon. It's the first original comic book series from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter. He's co-writing the book with Caitlin Kittredge, with art from Jesús Hervás. Here's the write-up from the publisher:
Lucas Stand is a military vet who can’t reintegrate into society and has emotionally cut himself off from the people he loves. At his lowest, Lucas does something he can't take back. Hell comes calling, offering him the opportunity to make things right. Demons escaping Hell are upsetting the balance of evil, and now Lucifer has recruited Lucas to send them back. It doesn't matter in what era the demons escape—World War II, old-timey Hollywood, Vietnam, present day—he must learn to fit in both the past and the present. Given new purpose, Lucas starts to rebuild himself and his life, even as he struggles at the human cost that comes with it.
Just to make sure you're understanding this right, Lucas Stand is a comic from the guy behind Sons of Anarchy featuring a time traveling demon hunter. It sounds like Quantum Leap mixed with Supernatural. I'm so in.
Lucas Stand #1 is set for release on June 1st, 2016. It will feature a main cover by Lee Bermejo (pictured above), as well as incentive covers from Frazer Irving, Riley Rossmo, and Scott Newman.
