Knights of Badassdom Gets a Release Date

There are some movies that I hear about in the nerd community that seem to vanish for a period of time.  Then they pop up out of nowhere and finally get the treatment they deserve.  That was how I felt about Knights of Badassdom, a film I had seen a trailer for ages ago but then dropped off the radar for some time.  Fortunately, the movie received a theatrical run this year and Entertainment One has picked it up for Blu-Ray and DVD release on April 1st.

Knights of Badassdom follows three best friends (played by Peter Dinklage, Steve Zahn, and Ryan Kwanten) and dedicated LARPers (Live Action Role Players), as they head into the woods to engage in a Dungeons-and-Dragons-esque battle royale.  These guys are pretty low on the nerd hierarchy.  The trio inadvertently summon a blood-lusting Succubus from the pits of Hell.  Now they have to vanquish this evil for real, but do they have enough hit points to survive the battle?  Joining Dinklage, Zahn, and Kwanten are Summer Glau, Danny Pudi, Margarita Levieva, and Jimmi Simpson. Not a bad cast at all.

The Blu-Ray and DVD releases include interviews with Peter Dinklage, Steve Zahn, and director Joe Lynch, as well as a behind-the-scenes featurette, footage from the San Diego Comic Con panel, and a “Summer Glau Hottie Montage.”  The film was produced by IndieVest Pictures' Mark Burton and Matt Wall, and by Kevin Dreyfuss. Daniel J. Heffner, Ketura Krestin, Rizwan Virk, Rich Cowan and Mike Elizalde executive produced.

Knights of Badassdom will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on April 1st, 2014.
