JUNIOR BRAVES IS THE WALKING DEAD FOR KIDS

Although one of the main characters in The Walking Dead is the young boy, Carl, the comic / show isn't really for kids.  Where are children to go when they want to read about the undead?  Oni Press has you covered as the publisher will be releasing Junior Braves of the Apocalypse digitally via ComiXology beginning on May 5th.  The six-part series, written by Greg Smith and Michael Tanner and illustrated by Zach Lehner, will be released weekly online culminating in a hardcover collection on July 8th.  Check out the blurb from Oni Press below:

Junior Braves of the Apocalypse follows the young scouts of Tribe 65, returning from a camping trip to find swarms of bloodthirsty zombies have overrun their town, bringing death and destruction everywhere they go. With their families missing and their homes destroyed, these plucky kids must use of all their scouting talents, combined smarts, and teamwork to survive the end of the world. Junior Braves of the Apocalypse Book 1: A Brave is Brave is the beginning of an exciting new young adult graphic novel series that is one part Goonies and one part The Walking Dead. Full of zombies, adventure and handy tips for wilderness survival!

This sounds like a fun book and not dumbed down to reach an all ages crowd.  A boy scout is just the kind of person I'd want nearby during the zombie apocalypse as they'll know how to survive in the wilderness or at the very least, without electricity.  I'm just going to keep staring at my phone wondering why I can't update Twitter.

Look for the first chapter of Junior Braves of the Apocalypse on ComiXology on May 6th.  The six-part series will be collected in a hardcover on July 8th entitled Book 1: A Brave is Brave.
