JAMES TYNION IV AND ERYK DONOVAN END THE WORLD...AGAIN
It's not easy ending the world, but writer James Tynion IV and artist Eryk Donovan are about to do it for a second time. The pair first accomplished the task with Memetic, a three-issue mini-series from BOOM! Studios last year that was pretty great. This October sees the creative team reuniting to do it again with a new three-issue mini-series entitled Cognetic, exploring the fundamental human desire for control and how absolute power can topple civilization.
Think of what society deems as normal now. Humans believe that they're self-reliant, self-determined individuals, each on their own course. Civilizations, culture, and lives have all been built along these guidelines, but what if that isn't the right rack? What if there's a singular mind ready to take back control and finally correct the destiny of mankind, thus building a better tomorrow?
Cognetic features a powerful psychic being that once controlled a third of the world's population as part of its hivemind. Now he's returned to humanity in modern-day New York City which is not a bad place to start. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere, right? It also follows the assistant to the director of the FBI who might be the only person who can save humanity...but at a terrible, terrible cost.
As with Memetic, Cognetic will feature three oversized issues, clocking in with 48 pages of story. No specific release date has been provided, but you can expect the first issue in October.
