ICHABOD AZRAEL COMES TO AMERICA IN FEBRUARY
After the success of titles like Dredd: Underbelly, Jaegir, and Brass Sun, 2000 AD is bringing another comic to the US with The Grievous Journey of Ichabod Azrael (and the Dead Left in his Wake). Written by Rob Williams and drawn by Dom Reardon, Michael Dowling, Peter Doherty, and Antonio Fuso, the comic centers on the title character who was the greatest killer in the Old West. That is until he's murdered. Death can't keep a bad man down though as he vows to kill his way out of the afterlife and return to the land of the living. No one has ever done it before but no one has ever been as mean a killer as Ichabod.
The comic first debuted in 2010 in the pages of 2000 AD. It's been described as a "bloody, romantic supernatural western filtered through the language of Daniel Woodrell and the cinematic imagery of Terrence Malick." The first issue will feature a cover by Simon Davis and a variant by Lee Garbett.
Williams said: "We're thrilled to bring the west's greatest DEAD killer to the US market, that's where he's from, after all. Movies like The Assassination of Jesse James and the songs of Gram Parsons and Townes Van Zandt were the strip's inspiration. So it's great he's heading to his homeland, revolver in hand."
The Grievous Journey of Ichabod Azrael (and the Dead Left in his Wake) #1 debuts on February 25th, 2015 at your local comic shop and digitally through 2000 AD's DRM-free webshop and iPad app.
