FIVE GHOSTS: SPECIAL EXPLORES THE ORIGIN OF DREAMSTONE
Five Ghosts by Frank Barbiere and Chris Mooneyham has quickly become a favorite comic of mine, capturing swashbuckling adventure with supernatural monsters and literary figures. The mythology is set to expand a bit in March with the release of Five Ghosts: Special from Image Comics. This one-shot will include a full-length story written and painted by S.M. Vidaurri exploring the origin of Dreamstone – the magical relic that gives Fabian Gray his ghostly powers – and introducing a brave medieval knight named Emma. Of course, it wouldn't be a Five Ghosts story without demons, wizards, and a new villain with supernatural powers.
"I'm very excited to present readers with a deeper look at the mythology of Five Ghosts," said Barbiere. "We've spent a lot of time building this world and it's an amazing opportunity to see just how far back our story goes. S.M. Vidaurri has graced many of our covers with his wonderful art and it's truly our honor to have him painting a full length story. S.M is a fantastic talent and has put together a great story that will resonate with Five Ghosts fans old and new."
Five Ghosts: Special is an oversized issue. In addition to the Dreamstone tale, it will also include an all-new story by Barbiere and artist Jamie Jones that takes Fabian Gray on an unforgettable literary heist. The book will be arriving in comic shops on March 25th, 2014.
Get a look at that cover! Damn, that's an awesome shot.
