EXPOSURE RETURNS THANKS TO KICKSTARTER
The more comics I read, the more I found that I've never heard of. It's a never ending problem but it's not a bad one to have at all as there are tons of great comics out there. Case in point: Exposure. Originally published 15 years ago through Image Comics, the book followed a pair of sexy supernatural investigators dealing with vampires, ghosts, and a bunch of other things that go bump in the night. Exposure seems to play in the cheesecake horror space with busty beautiful women encountering all sorts of monsters in a fun tongue-in-cheek way.
The first series was written by David Campiti and illustrated by the late Al Rio. Since then it has returned as a serialized webcomic and a successful Kickstarter campaign to publish volume 1 of the comic, collecting all of Rio's stories. Now Campiti has turned to Kickstarter once more to release volume 2, entitled Blind Faith with artist Jinky Coronado who was hand-picked by Rio to draw new Exposure stories.

"What on the surface seems to be 'X-Files-type stories with babes' is actually something more involved, despite the sexy art," explains series co-creator David Campiti. "Volume 1 introduced us to Lisa Shannon and Shawna Diaz, childhood friends who reunite as adult professionals. Shawna, a Cop...and Lisa, a Doctor with a sensitivity to the supernatural. The stories dealt with the first vampires being the Roman Centurion guards who put Christ to death...a ghost's love from beyond the grave...the existence of angels....the nature of souls...and the afterlife. Pretty weighty stuff for a comic book that at first glance is just pretty art."
"Not long after I started, Al died," recalls Jinky. "I had pretty big shoes to fill. I did my best to keep the look and the essence of the series the same, but bring it up to 2015 contemporary with fashions and electronics. The first volume had huge portable phones, CRT displays, and 1999-era fashions! The art is pretty sexy -- but in a very fun, clever manner. Tease, not sleaze."

Exposure: Volume 2 picks up not long after the events of Volume 1 with Lisa, Shawna, Graham Burrows, and Alan Wong uncovering a two thousand year old crucifix imbued with the very essence of magic. The book includes some unexpected turns including a flashback to an alternate timeline, a big religious thriller, and even a zombie story called "Night of the Living Dad!" that deals with the never-ending efforts and responsibilities a father puts himself through at any cost. The final story is a throwback to old school kids adventure type tales.
The Kickstarter campaign for Exposure: Volume 2 has already reached its goal, however Campiti's real goal is $30,000 or more. This would not only allow him to published Volume 2, but it would allow the creative team to release a third volume. The campaign wraps up on November 27th and has raised a little more than $11,000 at the time of this writing.
