Kids have it pretty great nowadays. When I was a kid, I had one channel that had kids programming and then a handful of local affiliates that would show cartoons really early on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Now a kid a flip through a number of channels and find all sorts of TV shows. Case in point, this Tuesday, October 16th will see the premiere of Dear Dracula, the animated adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name from Image Comics.
Published through the Shadowline imprint back in 2008, the comic centers on a young boy named Sam who has a love of horror films and vampires. This infatuation is so large that he personally writes to Dracula for Christmas instead of Santa Claus with the wish of becoming a vampire himself. Unexpectedly, his letter is answered...personally.

Dear Dracula is written by Joshua Williamson and drawn by Vicente "Vinny" Navarrete. The feature on the other hand is being handled by Kickstart Productions, the force behind shows like Voltron Force and Wolverine and the X-Men. The screenplay is written by Brad Birch. There are also quite a few big names lending voices to this project. Here's a quick cast list:
- Ray Liotta as Dracula
- Nathan Gamble (Dolphin Tale) as Sam
- Ariel Winters (Modern Family) as Emma
- Emilio Estevez as Renfield
- Marion Ross (Happy Days) as Grandma
Not a bad group at all. Dear Dracula premieres on Cartoon Network this Tuesday, October 16th at 7 PM EST.
