Dear Creature 00

One of the early titles I reviewed for HorrorTalk was Dear Creature, the original graphic novel by Jonathan Case, published by Tor Books.  I liked it so much, it landed a place among my top comics of the year. It was a nice mix of horror, humor, and romance with a sea monster named Grue at the center.  Now, the book is getting a new hardcover release this September from Dark Horse Comics.  Here's the write-up on the comic from the publisher:

Deep beneath the waves, a creature named Grue defies his nature, no longer wanting to eat lusty beachgoers, no matter how their hormones call to him. Grue discovers love after finding Shakespeare’s plays in cola bottles. When his first attempt at companionship in the world above ends . . . poorly, Grue searches for the person who cast the plays into the sea. What he finds is love in the arms of Giulietta-but with his wicked past catching up to him, Grue must decide if becoming a new man means ignoring the monster he was.

Dear Creature joins other Jonathan Case titles from Dark Horse like Green River Killer, The Creep, and the recently released, The New Deal.  Case has a great style that's fun, yet serious.  I am looking forward to revisiting Dear Creature when the hardcover is released on September 28th, 2016.
