DARK HORSE GETS REEFER MADNESS
Marijuana is now legal for recreational use in three states and for medical use in nineteen. Legalization is on the ballot this November. What better time to revisit the hysteria surrounding pot that was drummed up in the 1930s through the 1950s? Dark Horse Comics has announced a new paperback collection of Reefer Madness, collecting anti-drug propaganda stories ranging from the comically misinformed to the soberly concerned. Titles include Teenage Dope Slaves, Satan's Cigarettes, and Hopped-Up Killer.
The collection also features an introduction summarizing the anti-pot campaigns of the first drug czar, Harry Anslinger and newspaperman Randolph Hearst. Industry legends such as Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Frank Frazetta, Jerry Robinson, Jack Kirby, and Craig Yoe contributed to the comics collected in this trade paperback. Plus, check out that sweet retro cover.
Reefer Madness is set for release on March 29th, 2017.
