DARK HORSE COLLECTS HIGH CRIMES
This digital thing seems to be a great starting point for some comics lately. It was recently announced that D4VE would be making its print debut through IDW Publishing. Now Dark Horse Comics is getting into the mix with another Monkeybrain title, High Crimes by writer Christopher Sebela and artist Ibrahim Moustafa. The publisher will release a hardcover collection of the twelve-issue series in July 2015.
The comic follows disgraced Olympic snowboarder Zan Jensen who has relocated to Kathmandue and now works as a climbing guide. This doesn't pay all her bills though. She's making some extra cash as a high-altitude grave robber. When a body is found at the summit of Everest with a treasure trove of state secrets under its skin, Zan finds herself in the crosshairs of a government hit squad dead set on bringing the body home. Now she races to the top of the world, navigating between bullets and avalances to find salvation in the deadliest place on earth.
The first eight issues of High Crimes are currently available digitally through Monkeybrain. When this release was first announced, Sebela shared his excitement on Twitter.
Excited for people to actually read this book. Excited to have a hardcover with my name on it. Excited excited excited.— Christopher Sebela (@xtop) December 5, 2014
selling an indie digital-only book is hard effing work, even at our rock-bottom price, and all I ever want is for people to read HIGH CRIMES— Christopher Sebela (@xtop) December 5, 2014
I am incapable of expressing how much this book means to me. So I hope you like it when you finally get to read it.— Christopher Sebela (@xtop) December 5, 2014
actually getting choked up in the coffee shop, god why am i not a robottttt— Christopher Sebela (@xtop) December 5, 2014
The High Crimes hardcover collection is scheduled for release on July 8th, 2015. If those tweets don't make you want to buy it, you're stupid. Plus, look at that cover art! Damn, that's awesome. Side note: I'm very proud of myself for not titling this post "Dark Horse Gets High in July."
