CHEW CARD GAME HITS STORES IN MAY
There are hundreds of comics out there now but not many are making the leap into games and even fewer are the tabletop variety. IDW Games will be changing that in May with the release of Chew: Cases of the FDA. This is the first in a series of tabletop games based on the amazing comic from John Layman and Rob Guillory. The fast-paced game features artwork from Guillory including a brand-new box cover as well as text from Layman. IDW Games tapped designer Kevin Wilson to create an experience worthy of the Chew name.
"This whole process has been a blast," says Chew writer and creator, John Layman. "The game's all kinds of fun, and I'm hoping to see people playing in local hobby stores and convention halls across the country this year!"
Chew: Cases of the FDA is a card game for 2-5 players and is playable in about 30 minutes. Each person competes to close cases pulled directly from the pages of the ongoing comic book. They'll enlist partners like John Colby, Amelia Minz, and even Buttercup the Lion, while also sending fiendish villains and cultists out to sabotage their rivals' investigations.
As an added bonus, if you pre-order the game, you'll get an exclusive variant edition of Chew #1 featuring Guillory's homage to the class Dogs Playing Poker that appears on the packaging artwork, as well as 20 pink CHOG plastic minis that will change color in future printings. I don't know what a CHOG is, but now I want one.
Chew: Cases of the FDA can be pre-ordered from local game stores or hobby shops. I can't find where to pre-order it online yet, but I'm sure that will be available closer to the release date in May 2015.
