C is for Cthulu Teaches Your Kids About Monsters

As a new father, I’ve realized that my kid needs culture.  He can’t just watch Spongebob Squarepants all day.  He needs to be well rounded and to understand various pop culture references.  I’ve already outlined a movie agenda to take him through early adulthood, but his book library was a little lacking.  Fortunately, ComixTribe is about to change that with the launch of their first children’s book, C is for Cthulhu, currently available for pre-order through Kickstarter.

The book is written by Jason Ciaramella and illustrated by Greg Murphy and presented as a premium alphabet board book.  It features monsters and characters inspired by the mythos of H.P. Lovecraft.

"While browsing board books for my young son a few years back, I was disappointed to find every book on the shelves was essentially the same: A is for Apple, B is for Ball... Where's the fun in that, right?" said Ciaramella.  "My boys were exposed to the fantastic and weird at a very young age. They love monsters and mythology -- why shouldn't alphabet books for their age be filled with these things? Well, they should be! And that's why we made C is for Cthulhu."

The Kickstarter campaign is live now and you can pick up a copy of the book for as little as $15.  It’s set to run through Friday, August 29th.  Although the campaign has already hit its goal, for each additional $750 it generates, two copies of C is for Cthulu will be donated to a library.  The first pair went to The Providence Athenaeum, which currently houses a bronze bust of Lovecraft that was made possible by a Kickstarter campaign last year.
