Alan Robert's Killogy Coming to Television

It's about time that Hollywood has figured out that there's a wealth of story ideas in the comic book industry.  Hell, everything's already storyboarded for them.  Film isn't the only place that these adaptations are heading though.  Television has been picking up some funny books lately with some big titles recently such as Extinction Parade and Preacher.  Now Alan Robert's Killogy from IDW Publishing is joining the mix as an animated series from executive producer / writer Rodney Barnes.

The series centers on three criminals stuck in a jail cell as the world around them gets taken over by zombies.  As the story progresses, you find that their paths have crossed before they ended up behind bars.  Now they have to work together to get free and survive the onslaught of the undead.  The interesting part of the series was the Alan Robert cast his main characters.  Frank Vincent, Marky Ramone, and Brea Grant “play” the roles of Sally Sno-Cones, Cole Edwards, and Summer Rhoades.  Each character is drawn as the actor that they're based on.

The actors will be performing as these characters for the first time as they're providing the voices for the animated TV show.  Barnes and Robert will serve as executive producers, with the former writing the screenplay for the pilot episode.  Producers Chris White and Jeff Mazzola are also on board.

Robert is not done with the Killogy universe just yet.  A special Halloween edition one-shot will be released, continuing the story where the graphic novel finished.  In the tradition of the original series, this issue will star ex-Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein.  His character, also named Doyle, is humanity's last hope in a post-apocalyptic world flooded by an ocean of blood.  The comic will also include a 10 page preview of The Shunned One, the next comic by Robert, also to be released by IDW Publishing.

Killogy was a great comic so I'm interested in how this will be adapted for the small screen.  The story was pretty self-contained to the three main characters.  That could be where everything starts and then it branches out to other characters like Doyle.  I'm excited to see it though.  I hope they keep Robert's style too as he brought a very cool look to the comic with his dynamite artwork.
