ABIGAIL AND THE SNOWMAN DEBUTS ON NEW YEAR'S EVE
There are unfortunately not nearly enough kid-friendly comics available right now. There are even less options when it comes to horror titles. KaBOOM!, the all-ages imprint from publisher BOOM! Studios will debut a new title with a big monster called Abigail and the Snowman on New Year's Eve from creator Roger Langridge.
The comic follows a young girl named Abigail. She's the new girl at school and she's got a habit of talking to imaginary friends. It turns out that her newest friend is not imaginary at all. Instead, it's a real life yeti named Claude who has escaped from a top-secret government facility. Now it's up to Abigail to protect her new buddy and keep him safe from the "Shadow Men" chasing him.
"Roger is a master of creating emotionally resonant stories that pull at your heartstrings and put a smile on your face," said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. "He's proven it time and again, from his work on Snarked! to his most recent adaptation of Jim Henson's The Musical Monsters of Turkey Hollow. Now, he's constructed a brand-new story about a girl and her Yeti. Abigail and Claude are reminiscent of Calvin and Hobbes; they're best friends to the end and a delight to follow around the town of Shipton-on-Sea. This is one of those rare comics that I think virtually anybody will enjoy. Roger is that good."
The first issue of Abigail and the Snowman arrives in comic shops and digital devices on December 31st, 2014, retailing for $3.99. The main cover is illustrated by Langridge. An incentive cover will also be available from Sonny Liew.
