We're a bit spoiled nowadays with all the Aliens comics that are available at our fingertips, but back in 1988, the pickings were slim.  Dark Horse Comics had published an Aliens mini-series written by Mark Verheiden and illustrated by Mark A. Nelson.  Now, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aliens film, Dark Horse and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products are re-releasing that series in an oversized hardcover edition.

The comic picks up in deep space as a salvage crew is attacked by seemingly unstoppable monsters.  The marines are called in, but they need someone with experience to deal with these beasts.  Soon Hicks (the horribly scarred survivor from Aliens) and Newt (now almost eighteen) find themselves on a mission to locate and destroy the aliens' homeworld.

I both love and hate that there are so many comics out there that I just haven't read yet.  Fortunately, things like this re-release give me the opportunity to check out a book I would have missed otherwise.  Aliens 30th Anniversary: The Original Comics Series will feature 184 pages of original black-and-white art.  It's set for release on April 26th, 2016.
