EXPLORE THE HISTORY OF PLANET OF THE APES COMICS
Is there anyone that doesn't like the Planet of the Apes movies? If so, I don't want to meet them because I won't be their friend. Sequart Organization sounds like a company that I would befriend, especially after the publisher has announced the publication of The Sacred Scrolls: Comics on The Planet of the Apes. The essay anthology, edited by Rich Handley and Joseph F. Berenato, examines the history of the many Planet of the Apes comics over the past few decades.
Publishers like Gold Key, Marvel, Dark Horse, and BOOM! Studios have left marks on the franchise over the years. Creators have explored the settings, concepts, and characters of the films and even the TV series, while also introducing new characters and scenarios to the mythos. Back stories and histories have been revealed. Plot holes have been filled in. The comics have even seen the Apes battle alien invaders from War of the Worlds and Alien Nation.
The Sacred Scrolls includes analysis from comics historians, novelists, bloggers, and Apes experts, plus interviews with Doug Moench, Tom Mason, Scott Tipton, and more. The book runs 312 pages and is currently available in print and Kindle via the links below.
