PLUNDER BRINGS HORROR TO THE HIGH SEAS
My almost-2-year-old son has really gotten into Disney's Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Something tells me that Plunder, a new comic coming in February from Archaia is a different set of pirates entirely. The series is written by Swifty Lang and illustrated by Skuds McKinley and aims to create a mix between Captain Phillips and The Thing. OK. I'm listening...
"Horror on the high seas," said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. "That's what Swifty and Skuds have created with Plunder. This is a visceral horror story that has a killer setup and a flat-out intense narrative. Step on board for a wild journey!"

Plunder follows a gang of Somali pirates after they face off with an illegal Chinese vessel. They try to board what they think is a research ship only to find themselves in the midst of a massacre. Their worst nightmares become reality around them. The 14-year-old boy who went from translator to reluctant pirate becomes the key to survival, but he must decide how far he's willing to go in the name of self-preservation.
The covers released for the first issue look terrifying. The monsters are like something created from sheer madness. Plunder #1 will be available on February 18th from Archaia. It will feature a main cover by series artist Skuds McKinley, a 10 Years Anniversary incentive cover by Ramón K. Pérez and a retailer incentive cover by Daniele Serra.
