BURNING FIELDS ARRIVES IN JANUARY

Sometimes you get a creative team in comics that produces dynamite work. They just create some really great stuff. That was the case with Curse, a mini-series published last year showing how far one man was willing to go to save his son. (Here's a hint: It has to do with werewolves.) The comic brought together writers Michael Moreci and Tim Daniel and artists Riley Rossmo and Colin Lorimer to create one of my top ten comics of 2014. Now three of the four of that team are reuniting for another horror book called Burning Fields, due out this month from BOOM! Studios. Here's the write up from the publisher:

Dana Atkinson, a dishonorably discharged army investigator, is pulled back to the Middle East when a group of American oil technicians disappear under bizarre circumstances. With the help of an Iraqi investigator, what Dana discovers is unimaginable: a series of unusual incidents at the drill site lead her and her unlikely ally to discover a mythic evil that has been released, one that threatens both the lives of the entire region and the fragile peace that exists.

"Michael, Tim, and Colin are proving to be an unstoppable force of creativity, and we couldn't be more thrilled to have them back with another new twist on horror," said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. "They showed with Curse that they're capable of delivering razor sharp, character-driven genre stories that are complex and gripping. Just wait until you see what terrors they're digging up in Burning Fields."

Although Rossmo won't be handling any interior art, he is contributing a retailer incentive cover for the first issue. It will also include a main cover by Lorimer, and a 10 Years variant cover by Trevor Hairsine, celebrating the anniversary of BOOM! Studios. Burning Fields #1 is scheduled for release on January 21st, 2014 and will retail for $3.99. If it's anything like Curse, you're going to want to pick this up.
