Alien: Isolation Adds Survivor Mode
It's not enough to just sell you a good video game now. That's just the first step in the process. Now companies can release the game and then sell you some additional content digitally to add to it and continue doing so indefinitely. It's no surprise that SEGA is joining in on this with the upcoming release of Alien: Isolation. The company has announced a slate of downloadable content that will be available shortly after the game's release. Chief among this is Survivor Mode which will pit the player against the alien itself in a one-on-one battle.
Survivor Mode was first revealed at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles. This new game mode challenges the players to confront the universe's deadliest killer deep within the bowels of Sevastopol Station. Each map has limited resources and a hunter on the loose, so you'll need to plan wisely, taking advantage of every available item to complete a unique set of objectives and escape certain death.
"At this year's E3 and a number of subsequent events, we put the Survivor Mode demo into the hands of the world's press and consumers and the reception was incredible," said Al Hope, Creative Lead on Alien: Isolation. "This is the game in its purest form; it's you against the creature and it's against the clock. It was just fantastic watching players leave the demo with a strange mix of joy, terror and relief at simply surviving, before jumping back in and try to tackle it in a different way to beat their time!"
