Nailbiter Volume 1 Coming in October

Where do serial killers come from?  If you're looking at that as some existential question, I'm sure you could come up with a variety of answers.  For sixteen serial killers, the answer is Buckaroo, Oregon.  It's a typical small town in Anywhere U.S.A., but something about it has led to the creation of some of the world's worst mass murderers.  FBI Agent Eliot Carroll thought there was more to this than coincidence and dove head first into his own investigation of the town.  Then he disappeared.  This is how Nailbiter starts up and writer Joshua Williamson and artist Mike Henderson are just getting started.  The first five issues of the comic are set to be collected into a graphic novel by Image Comics this October.

With Carroll missing, his friend, army intelligence officer Nicholas Finch heads to Buckaroo to find him.  The most obvious suspect is Edward James Warren, aka “The Nailbiter” who was the latest Buckaroo Butcher.  This psychopath was acquitted of forty-five counts of first degree murder and Carroll worked on that case.  You can imagine how pissed off the agent was.

“[Nailbiter] really wended its way in directions we hadn’t predicted once sketches and designs started being kicked back and forth,” said artist Henderson of the creative process. “We both saw a twisting mystery though, rooted under the town of Buckaroo and affecting everyone in it in different (often horrible) ways.”

Nailbiter has been absolutely stellar so far.  I can't wait to see where the series heads next.  The first trade paperback drops on the same date as issue #6 so you can get caught up all at once by picking them both up (and you should).  Nailbiter: Volume 1 – There Will Be Blood will be available in comic book stores on October 1st, 2014 and in book stores on October 14th, 2014.  It will retail for $9.99 and is currently available for pre-order.
