Tusk Official Poster Revealed
Regardless of your opinion of Kevin Smith, you have to give the guy some credit for how insanely productive he's been over the past year or so. The guy has written a total of five scripts, including Clerks III. One of those screenplays is Tusk, an idea that began with an episode of SModcast, the podcast hosted by Smith and Scott Mosier. Now it's a feature film set for release this fall from A24.
The episode of SModcast in question was #259, entitled “The Walrus and the Carpenter” in which the duo discussed an intriguing apartment listing in which the tenant would get to live in the building rent-free on the grounds that once a month they'd have to dress up as a walrus. Smith and Mosier discussed how it would make an amazing movie and basically scripted out a chunk of it right there. They weren't too sure about it so Smith asked the audience to post a yay or nay on Twitter with a hashtag of #WalrusYes or #WalrusNo if he should make the movie. The response was a resounding yes.
Smith banged out the script, filmed the movie last fall and now it's scheduled to be released in a few months. That's the power of the Internet, folks. Now we've got an official poster to feast your eyes on. It's subtle and spooky and makes me want to see the movie even more.
Tusk is written and directed by Kevin Smith and stars Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment, and Genesis Rodriguez. More information about the movie, including the podcast that started it all, can be found at the official website.
