You may not know the name of John Higgins, but he had a hand in one of the biggest comics ever written. He was the colorist on Watchmen but that's not the only arrow in his quiver. He also colored one of the quintessential Batman comics in The Killing Joke. Back in 1999, he created a character named Razorjack through a self-published anthology title. She was a queen of an hell dimension and two cops are investigating her killing spree. It's a tale as old as time really.
Not much else has happened with Razorjack since her debut in 1999. There was a two issue limited series in 2001, but after that, she's been quiet...until now. Titan Comics has announced that they're releasing a new edition of Razorjack in September 2013 with remastered artwork, new dialogue, and two new short stories, written and illustrated by Higgins.
To be completely honest, I've never heard of Razorjack or John Higgins. That being said, the trailer that Titan Comics has put together to promote this upcoming release looks pretty cool. It also comes with quotes from some of the biggest names in the industry including Warren Ellis, Mark Millar, and Garth Ennis. An endorsement from any one of those folks would be enough to get me interested. All three makes this a must read.
The ultimate edition of Razorjack will be in stores on September 18th, 2013. It can currently be pre-ordered through the June edition of Diamond Previews (Order code: JUN131286).
