Left 4 Dead 2 came out almost four years ago but it's still a huge powerhouse of a game.  So much so that Capcom has teamed up with Valve, the publisher behind the game to bring the popular characters to the PC release of Resident Evil 6.  It's a good old fashioned crossover.  This is going both ways though as monsters from RE6 will be making their way over to L4D2.

Owners of Resident Evil 6 on PC will have the option to select one of the four survivors from L4D2 -- Coach, Nick, Ellis, or Rochelle -- when playing the PC exclusive mode, The Mercenaries No Mercy.  Each character will have a special customized weapon load-out created just for use in RE6.  That's not all though.  The Witch and the Mini Tank, two of the Special Infected zombies from the Left 4 Dead franchise will be making cameos in this mode to attack anyone, regardless of the game they originated from.  This new content will download automatically in the background for all owners of the PC version of Resident Evil 6 on April 5th.

Meanwhile, players of the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 will get to battle some of Resident Evil 6's bad guys including Lepotitsa, Napad, and Ogroman.  These were brought to life by Valve's developers using their Steam Workshop tools.  Owners of the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 will be able to face off against these new challenges this spring.

Commenting on the crossover project, Chet Faliszek from Valve stated: “We’re huge Resident Evil fans, so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it.”

Resident Evil 6 Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi added: “The Resident Evil 6 team really enjoyed working on this crossover, and we’re confident that our fans will have a great time with it too! We hope you enjoy this unique content.”

I'm not a PC gamer, but I love the idea of these two games crossing over and sharing content.  I hope this is the beginning of more crossovers between video games.

What do you think of this Resident Evil 6 / Left 4 Dead 2 crossover?  I just realized how many numbers were in that sentence.  OMG!  4 + 2 = 6!  It was meant to be!
