Dark Horse Comics has announced that Emily the Strange is making her return to funny books.  Creator Rob Reger has teamed up with co-writer Mariah Huchner and artist Emily Ivie to bring a new full-color mini-series to stands.  Entitled Emily and the Strangers, the book focuses on the title character, "determined to make the most rockin' song the world has ever known and win a legendary haunted guitar."  Aided by her three mischievous cats and her strange new bandmates, she's set out to make a new album in 2013.

An Emily the Strange feature film is currently in development.  Chloë Grace Moretz is attached to play the title role.

The first issue of Emily and the Strangers is set to debut on January 30th, 2013.  Look for some limited edition variant covers by rock-poster legends.

This sounds a bit like a supernatural version of Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny.  I'm totally okay with that.  What do you think of this new Emily the Strange series?  Are you ready to rock?
