Capcom has announced that Ada Wong will be a playable character in the upcoming Resident Evil 6.  She'll have her own individual campaign that will be unlocked when the player completes the campaigns of Leon, Chris, and Jake.  Her portion of the game provides her perspective as the bioterrorist outbreaks threaten to wipe out all of mankind.

That's not all though.  Have you ever wanted to play the game as a zombie?   Capcom has also announced that RE6 will feature a new online mode called Agent Hunt.  Players can choose to be a "hunter" where they'll swoop into the game sessions of other players with the aim of eliminating the human characters.  As a hunter, you'll have access to the unique attacks and movements of the enemies in the game, including the various J'avo transformations.  Here are some specifics on Agent Hunt mode.

  • Player must complete the main campaigns of either Leon, Chris, or Jake to unlock Agent Hunt stages for each of these campaigns.
  • When starting a new RE6 gameplay session, player has the option to allow or not allow Agent Hunt
  • A hunter can search for sessions to join from players around the world and jump right in.
  • Only certain stages are open to this mode.
  • The agent side can be a single or co-op party.  Up to two separate hunters can join the session at one time.
  • When a hunter dies, they respawn in the same session as a different random enemy (much like Left 4 Dead).
  • If the hunter eliminates the human agent, they'll be brought to a "Hunt Successful" screen with the option to join another session.  The agent's session will end the same as if they were killed by an AI enemy.

It's always fun to play as the bad guy in a game, but this just looks like trolling.  It's set up in such a way as to reward those annoying kids that you always find while playing online multiplayer on the Playstation Network or Xbox Live.  They can drop in, kill you, and leave.  It doesn't look like there's much else to it.  What do you think?

Resident Evil 6 will be available on October 2nd, 2012 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.  A PC version is planned to follow soon after.
