Godzilla has returned to comics. After a brief hiatus where he and his other giant monster pals were literally in hibernation, IDW Publishing has brought the big guy back with his own ongoing series. That's not all though as that series -- which kicked off last week -- will also be released digitally for the first time the same day and date as the print book. The digital versions will also include two exclusive variant covers. I personally don't see the point of variant covers for digital comics, but to each his own. You can check out my thoughts on Godzilla #1 in last week's Funny Book Splatter.

Kaiju fans can expect more from IDW this summer as they'll soon launch Godzilla: The Half-Century War. The book is written and drawn by James Stokoe (Orc Stain) and features a generation-spanning story.
IDW also promises to bring in even more giant monsters in the coming months. Over 20 of Godzilla's fiercest foes and allies will be joining the fray including Jet Jaguar, Sanda, and Gaira.
All of this sounds great for huge beasts and fans of kaiju but it doesn't sound too good for the people that have to live under the feet of Godzilla and his buddies. Hopefully we'll be able to fight back.
What do you think of all this Godzilla news? That's a lot of big monster-on-monster action coming your way in the next few months.
