NYCC 2014: KILLING FLOOR 2 DEVELOPER DIARY SERIES CONTINUES

Man, it's really fun shooting zombies, isn't it? The folks at Tripwire Interactive seem to agree, as they continue to working Killing Floor 2, a sci-fi horror, first-person shooter for the PC. They've released the second part of their developer diary series, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the game which you can check out below. This new installment is entitled "THE GORE Part 1" wherein some key members of the Tripwire Interactive team go into detail on the three essential pillars of the game: Bullets, Blades, and Blood. You'll have many options available as to how you'll dismember and destroy the Zeds.

In Killing Floor 2, players descend into continental Europe where the outbreak caused by Horzine Biotech's failed experiment has quickly spread and gained unstoppable momentum, essentially paralyzing the European Union— Just one month after the events in the original Killing Floor, the specimen clones are everywhere and civilization is in disarray; communications have failed, governments have collapsed, and military forces have been systematically eradicated. The people of Europe know survival and self-preservation too well and lucky survivors have gone into hiding.

Not all have given up hope though... A group of civilians and mercenaries have banded together to combat the outbreak and established privately funded operation bases across Europe. Upon tracking specimen clone outbreaks, players will descend into zed-laden hot zones and exterminate them.

I haven't played the original Killing Floor, but I was able to check out a demo of the sequel at New York Comic Con. Difficulty ranges from Easy to Hell on Earth and the AI improves accordingly as you prepare to mow down zombies with a variety of weapons. You'll want to make sure you kill each Zed outright because leaving them alive only makes them angrier. Although what I saw was a very early release, the game looks like it'll be fun, especially if you get some friends together to shoot up the undead.

Killing Floor 2 is being developed for the PC and SteamOS and is currently slated for released in 2015. This title has not yet been rated by the ESRB.
