Today was the kickoff for the New York Comic Con at the Javits Center in Manhattan. It was just a preview of things to come though. Professionals, press, and VIPs were allowed to come in and check out the convention floor for a few hours. I was on the scene along with a few hundred other people. Tomorrow and the next day will have even more fans, many of them in costume looking for their comic fix.
If you're at the Con this weekend and are a horror fan, there are a ton of great small publishers that you should hit up. This starts up around aisle 2500 through 3000, near Artists Alley. There are tons of great books worth checking out there.
The Avatar Press booth (#1930) has a bunch of books for sale of course, but they also have previews of their upcoming Crossed: Borderlands ongoing series. You can also pick up a DVD of Garth Ennis' short film, Stitched.
I'll be attending as many panels as I can over the next few days and reporting back here so stay tuned for more coverage. In the meantime, if you're coming out to NYCC, be sure to where comfortable shoes and deodorant. They are absolutely necessary.
