To celebrate the Blu-rayTM and DVD with Ultraviolet™ release of the terrifying Mama on 17th June, the gripping tale of two little girls who disappear on the day that their mother is murdered, we are daring to take a look back at the greatest horror films of all time. We are delving into the darkest of films, looking at the kids who starred in them, and what happened to them after the camera stopped rolling.
Then: Regan in The Exorcist (1973)
Now: After picking up two Golden Globe nominations for her role in The Exorcist, Blair was involved in a drugs scandal in the late 1970’s and her career plummeted. Blair now focuses her time on being a human rights activist and humanitarian. She runs the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation for the treatment and rescue of abused and neglected animals.
Then: Samara in The Ring (2002)
Now: At 22 years old, Daveigh is most notable for her role as 16yr old bride to be Rhonda Volmer in the HBO show Big Love (2006-11).
Harvey Spencer Stephens
Then: Damien in The Omen
Now: After cameo appearance in The Omen remake (2006) as a journalist, Harvey now reportedly lives in England, where he has worked as a stock trader and property developer.
Lisa and Louise Burns
Then: Grady Twins in The Shining (1980)
Now: Neither made another movie after The Shining, Lisa earned a degree in literature while Louise has become a microbiologist (along with Danny!)
Then: Carrie in Carrie (1976)
Now: Sissy claims that Carrie was the film that really launched her career and has played many parts since, including Coal Miner's Daughter (1980) which earner her an Oscar. She is still acting and recently starred in The Help (2011).
Then: Andy in Child's Play (1988)
Now: During high school he decided to give acting another try. After 15 unsuccessful auditions he decided to call it quits for good and left the acting profession. He obtained an Associate Degree in Recording Arts from Full Sail University and as of 2008, makes a living as a sound engineer.
Then: David in Village of the Damned (1995)
Now: Thomas went on to voice Littlefoot in The Land Before Time (V-IX) and Fievel in An American Tale (1986). Now 25, he is more well known for his role as Zach on Heroes. He is also a musician and has written and produced 2 classical music albums influenced by electronica which he describes as "electrofolk".
Then: Isaac in Children of the Corn (1984)
Now: Franklin was 25 yrs old when he played the role of Isaac in Children of the Corn. He was diagnosed with GHD as a child, and is the reason for his short stature. He was signed to an acting contract at the age of 23 because he looked like he was 12 years old. The disease not only makes him short, but it makes him appear younger and his voice a little higher than most males. He continued with the horror theme, providing the voice for Walkabout Chucky in Child’s Play (1988), and playing Cousin It in the Adams Family movies in 1991 and 1993. He retired from acting in 2003 and went into teaching and creative writing.
Then: Gage in Pet Sematary (1989)
Now: Miko Hughes was a consistently popular child actor, having played Aaron Bailey on Full House from 1990 to 1995, Joseph in Kindergarten Cop (1990) and the portrayal of an autistic boy Simon Lynch opposite Bruce Willis in Mercury Rising (1998). Miko is now living in Apple Valley, CA. He is acting during the day and is a DJ at night and randomly keeps 30,000 bees in his backyard beehive.
Then: Kyra in The Sixth Sense (1999)
Now: After a role as teen superstar Marissa from The OC, she now has her own fashion label in addition to continuing her acting career in recent horrors such as Apartment 1303 (2012) and the forthcoming LA Slasher (2013).
