ATTACK OF THE LEDERHOSEN ZOMBIES UK PREMIERE
Blood on snow looks awesome, two instalments of Dead Snow has taught me that much. So the evil Nazi zombies are put aside in this gruesome tale of terror, set in the snow-covered Alpine peaks, and a new breed of zombie emerges in the shape of... Lederhosen Zombies. Nope, I have no idea what that is either, but they're attacking and the trailer looks like a whole heap of gory fun in the same vein as the Dead Snow series. The film has screened, and picked up awards, in Brussels and Brazil so chances are high for a good time with this one. Read on for official info, some stills and that trailer.
The Hills are Alive - with the Sound of Zombies! Austrian horror comedy Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies has been selected for Horror Channel FrightFest. The UK’s most prestigious horror fantasy festival runs 25-28 August 2016 at the Vue Shepherd’s Bush cineplex in London.
The alpine zombie film, combining spectacular state-of-the-art snowboarding with plenty of bloody mayhem, was directed by Dominik Hartl, produced by Fischer Film and sold in the UK exclusively by Screenbound Pictures. It saw its world premiere April 2016 in competition at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. Last June it took the Audience Award for Best Feature Film and the Award for Best Special Effects at Fantaspoa, Latin-America’s premier genre film festival in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Along with the inclusion of the screening at FrightFest 2016, Attack of the Lerderhosen Zombies will have its official theatrical debut in October and a home entertainment release later this year. Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies is young directing and writing talent Dominik Hartl’s second feature film following his acclaimed debut, the coming-of- age drama Beautiful Girl (2015). Principal cast members are Laurie Calvert (Kenneth
Branagh’s Cinderella), Gabriela Marcinková (Neil Jordan’s Byzantium), Oscar Dyekjær Giese (Michael Noer’s Northwest) and Margarethe Tiesel (Ulrich Seidl’s Paradise: Love).
Steve, a young professional snowboarder, ruins a high-paying photoshoot by playing a silly prank. He, his girlfriend Branka, and fellow snowboarder Joschi are left behind on the mountain. They seek shelter in an après-ski tavern that is hosting an all-night party. Things go from bad to worse when a scientific experiment unleashes an epidemic of zombies and mutant wildlife.
This is mostly lost on the local drunkards, as they are not always easy to distinguish from zombies themselves. But Steve, Branka, and Joschi have to find a way to survive this hellish night.
Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies receives its UK premiere on Saturday 27th August at 3.50pm in Discovery Screen One. For tickets go to: http://www.frightfest.co.uk/tickets.html
