Another Frightfest film that will make its appearance on the retail market before the end of the festival is Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings. My press notes tell me that this film is "rated too gruesome and gory for cinemas", which is quite possibly the most creatively brilliant way of saying "straight to DVD" I've ever read. Wrong Turn sequel-meister Declan O'Brien helms part four after having previously delivered part three and currently working on part five.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the original Wrong Turn, you can't really go wrong with cannibalistic rednecks romping round a forest slicing up visitors, although admittedly the sequels have passed me by. Does this mean an extended viewing session to catch up of the story arc so far? Nah, I think I'll be able to fill in the blanks.

Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings will screen on Saturday 25th August on the Discovery Screen in the last slot of the evening, so it's potentially up against the Maniac remake which is going to be tough competition for any film. Still, if you miss it you can nip out to one of the many London stores and pick it up on DVD and Blu-ray from Monday 27th August from 20th Century Fox.

Almost forgot, here's the official synopsis:

It’s 1974 and deep in the West Virginia wilderness, a family of inbred hillbilly cannibals are being held in an isolated asylum for the violent and mentally ill.  The asylum soon becomes deserted when the inbred family escapes and takes sadistic and gratuitous revenge on their captors...

Decades later, a group of college students takes a wrong turn and seeks refuge in the now-abandoned asylum after a blizzard derails their plans for a weekend winter break. But when the students encounter the medical ward’s most frightening former patients, now fiendishly famished residents, their only choice is to fight back...or die trying!

Learn how the flesh-eating siblings earned their nicknames in this gorefest where heads roll, limbs are ripped from their sockets and bodies are hung, drawn and quartered!
