Angelica Blackstone (aka Hellchild), the half-vampire, half-god is in need of cash, so she takes a job from Jezebel, a mysterious businesswoman with four hellhounds. This position really speaks to Angelica's skills, as it involves murder. The price is right, so she literally jumps right in and starts tearing faces off.
Angelica's real mission is to prevent the resurrection of a lizard sorcerer. Jezebel explains how big and bad this guy was back in the day, but she's hiding something. There's a larger mystery at work here. Hellchild is a tool used for a very specific yet bloody function. She's a blunt object, capable of causing a lot of damage in a short amount of time.

The action in Hellchild: The Unholy is unparalleled. Artist Renzo Rodriguez delivers incredible fight scenes with blood and guts flying every which way. Angelica is basically a walking Mortal Kombat Fatality. She actually rips a dude's spine out at one point. Each blow is more gruesome than the last. It's damn impressive.
The horde of lizard men look like something out of a 1980's cartoon. They're almost like henchmen that He-Man or the Thundercats would fight on a regular basis. It's no wonder they get destroyed in a few seconds. Much more unsettling is the poorly named Prick, who's a giant of a man with razor blades for teeth. Just thinking about his oral hygiene regiment makes me cringe. The final page spread is a disturbing image that will send shivers down your spine.

The title character is rather unlikable. She's a big ball of angst who's mad at the world, so she lashes out at everyone and everything around her. This gets old fast, but it's somewhat made up by her incredible fighting skills. I expect her to go home after an evening of ripping off people's limbs and post animated gifs on her Tumblr about how no one understands her.
Hellchild: The Unholy is a gore-filled ride through Splattertown. You'll learn the sound a lizard man's skull makes when it explodes as an exxxtreme vampire goddess tears through everything around her. While all this is happening, I'm trying to keep an eye on Jezebel because there's definitely still something up her sleeve. Things are going to get more complicated for Angelica, and I'm not certain the obstacles coming up are ones she can punch, bite, and slash her way through.
