Storm King Productions has announced that their six issue comic series John Carpenter's Asylum will be collected into a graphic novel debuting at this year's New York Comic Con. Fans will have their choice of three different versions of the book: hardcover, softcover, or a limited run collector's edition only available through the publisher. Writer / publisher / movie producer Sandy King Carpenter and artist Leo Manco will be on hand for signings and autographs at booth #2029.
The softcover version of John Carpenter's Asylum will retail for $19.99 at NYCC and include a total of 200 pages (144 comic pages plus a sketchbook from Manco, a “how to” guide, and three new demons never before seen in the comic. The hardcover will be available in November for $35. Then there's the big one. The oversized hardcover with slipcase will be limited to only 500 copies. Each one is hand numbered and signed by Sandy King Carpenter, John Carpenter, Leo Manco, Bruce Jones, Trent Olsen, Janice Chiang, and possibly Thomas Ian Griffith. This version will set you back $100 and will be available for purchase online and advance order before the show.
Here's the write-up about John Carpenter's Asylum from the publisher:
There's a war coming to the City of Angels. In tunnels beneath the city, in the dark alleys among the homeless, demons lurk and Lucifer bides his time. One man knows. One man sees. One man walks those dark streets. Father Daniel Beckett's seen demons and he's spoken to the Devil, but he's never seen an angel and he's never spoken to God. Obsessed and driven as much by betrayal as righteousness and anger as redemption, he walks the smoke-filled encampments of lost souls like Dante's nine rings of the Inferno. He is God's warrior at war with God.
