Heavy Metal and Asylum Press Join Forces for Special Issue
Heavy Metal and Asylum Press will be teaming up for a special version of Heavy Metal with issue #271. It’s a sci-fi / horror spectacular with Asylum Press Publisher Frank Forte serving as guest editor for the book. The list of talent on hand is pretty epic. The issue will include stories from Steve Mannion, William Broad, Dwayne Harris, Tim Vigil, David Hartman, Hilary Barta, Robert S. Rhine, Elizabeth J. Musgrave, J. C. Wong, Royal McGraw, Adauto Silva, Jason Paulos, Fabio Nahon, Nenad Gucunja, Mirka, Mark Covell, and Forte himself. The tales include everything from Satanism and witchcraft to bog creatures and zombies. There’s also one story that’s described as an “erotic robotic thriller.”
Also featured in this issue will be gallery sections from Ben Olson and Dave Lebow. Aly Fell will be providing cover art.
“I’m excited to have been able to put together one of my favorite magazines,” explains guest editor Frank Forte, “everyone worked really hard to deliver an issue of Heavy Metal that will be sure to please fans old and new.”
David Hartman took a break from directing Phantasm V: Ravager to complete an all-new 4-page horror story entitled Pond Scum for the issue. David says, "I grew up with Heavy Metal. I would study the art in them for hours upon hours and there was nothing else like it out there. It was a big part of my childhood and I am honored to be a part of the magazine now."
