Freaktown Comics Brings You Slashermania
When I saw The Hunger Games, I thought, “You know what this is missing? Jason.” The folks at Freaktown Comics seem to be on the same wavelength judging from the upcoming graphic novel Slashermania. The book is set in 1983 and follows a group of troubled teens from New York and Los Angeles who are taken to a summer camp facility to be trained as counselors and be with other kids their own age. They're actually being secretly watched by an audience hungry for sex and violence. They're the victims of a bizarre contest of murder and mayhem.
Slashermania brings masked maniacs from all over the world to compete in categories such as Best Male Solo Death, Coitus Interruptus, Most Creative Kill, Biggest Multiple Death, and the coveted Slasher of the Year award. This is brilliant.
The original graphic novel is written by Russell Hillman and features art by Ron Joseph, Jake Isenberg, and Harry Saxon. Sergio Calvet will be lettering Slashermania.
No specific release date has been provided yet for Slashermania, but I think we can all agree that it is not soon enough. This sounds like a really fun comic that is a throwback to the classic slasher movies of the 1980's. Judging from Freaktown Comics' previous release, The Dark of the Forest, this is an area the publisher is very comfortable with.
