GRIMMFEST TEASES 2014 FESTIVAL LINE-UP
If you don't fancy a trip down to London for Frightfest, then there's always the awesomeness of the North's favourite horror film festival, Grimm Up North. The festival organisers have just announced a few of the highlights for 2014, including a screening of Dario Argento's Suspiria, with its soundtrack being performed live by Claudio Simonetti's legendary band Goblin. A full schedule is yet to be released, but if you miss out on any of Goblin's London shows, then this is the perfect chance to catch the band in all their giallo-sounding glory.
Grimmfest, which takes place in Manchester from the 2nd–5th October, has revealed its headliner for 2014 - Italian 70's progressive rock legends CLAUDIO SIMONETTI'S GOBLIN performing a live score to Dario Argento's horror classic SUSPIRIA. This truly unique event will take place at The Dancehouse, in Manchester, on Friday 3rd October. Grimmfest producer Sim Halligan said 'we are delighted to be hosting this immersive screening of SUSPIRIA, our fans will love the film and really get behind the ironic venue'.
Grimmfest will also play host to the UK premiere of Cannibal feature HE NEVER DIED by Jason Krawczyk, starring US punk legend Henry Rollins, Booboo Stewart [X-Men Days of Future Past] & Steven Ogg the actor behind Trevor Phillips in video game juggernaut GTA 5.
2014 also sees Grimmfest introduce special previews, a season of 'run up titles' to get horror fans in the mood, will run in September. The first of these is Grimmfest produced WHITE SETTLERS, dubbed the Scottish referendum horror movie by The Guardian, which premieres at Film4Frightfest on the 23rd August, and then previews at Grimmfest from 15th -18th September. Also previewing is DEVIL'S TOWER (World Premiere) on Sept 10th, starring Jason Mewes (Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back). Each preview night will run with a selection of new short horror films.
The full Grimmfest 2014 programme will be announced on 30th August. Tickets & passes for the festival go on sale 8th August www.grimmfest.com
