Roche Limit Brings Hardboiled Crime to Space
There are some classic noir stories that have stood the test of time. Names like Chandler and Hammett are legends in the genre. You know what they were missing though? Outer space. Writer Michael Moreci and artist Vic Malhotra are planning on fixing that with Roche Limit, a new series slated for release in September by Image Comics. The comic is described as a cross between 2001: A Space Odyssey and Blade Runner. Here's the write up from the publisher:
Billionaire Langford Skaargard’s dream of cosmic exploration is no more and Roche Limit, a colony situated on the cusp of a mysterious energy anomaly, has become a melting pot of crime and terrible secrets. When Bekkah Hudson goes missing, the search to find her will plunge her sister and a cadre of the colony’s underworld figures into an odyssey that reveals a grim future for mankind.
"This is a book I feel like I was meant to write,” said Moreci. “If you like great sci-fi, and if you love a good mystery, you cannot miss Roche Limit."
While I thought 2001: A Space Odyssey was boring, Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies. I have faith in Moreci as he's been behind some of my favorite comics as of late so I'm looking forward to Roche Limit. The first issue is set to arrive in September and will retail for $3.50. It is currently available for pre-order.
