Not content with having other top name talent collaborating on exciting new series, Image Comics continued the announcements at this year's Image Expo with Wytches, an upcoming ongoing horror title from Scott Snyder and Jock. The book aims to make you forget everything you ever knew about witches and replace it with something much darker and much more horrifying. Somehow I don't think they intend to visit Oz anytime soon.
“I like taking classic monsters and reimagining them in a fresh, contemporary, and much scarier way,” said Snyder.

“It’s great to finally have Scott Snyder back at Image,” said Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson. “We loved working with Scott on Severed, and he has only gotten better since then, so it’s really wonderful that he’s teaming up with Jock on what is without a doubt one of the creepiest books we have ever published.”
Scott Snyder and Jock have previously collaborated on Batman in Detective Comics for an awesome story arc called The Black Mirror. Snyder has a way of telling a story that brings you in as each piece is slowly revealed. Couple that with Jock's amazing artwork and you have a pretty great comic. I have to admit, witches aren't all that exciting to me as a supernatural sub-genre, but I guess that means it's ripe for the picking for this team to revitalize them and most importantly, to make them scary again. For the most part they're a joke. Look at the Wicked Witch of the West or that lady who lived in a candy house in Hansel and Gretel.
No specific release date has been set for the first issue of Wytches, but expect it later on in 2014.
