David Ash, first introduced in the UK number one bestsellers Haunted and The Ghosts of Sleath, returns December 11th in Ash. Written by James Herbert, the UK's #1 bestselling horror author since the mid-1970's, the character is a skeptical paranormal detective.

Deep in the countryside, ghost hunter David Ash is investigating the mysterious, secluded stately home Comraich Castle. Reports from locals regarding strange goings-on make him think the house is haunted…But not even David Ash’s long professional history of warding off evil spirits can prepare him for the shocking discovery that awaits. As the terror builds and danger looms will Ash be able to escape?

I was first introduced to James Herbert with The Secret of Crickley Hall, which I was impressed with. As I dig detective novels as much as I do horror (if not more sometimes), this series looks to be a must read for me since it looks to be a marriage of my two favorite genres.

He's the puppet master. You don't see him, but he pulls the strings that gets things done. He's the silent partner. He's black ops. If you notice his presence, it's the last thing you'll notice — because now you're dead. He's the shadow you thought you saw in that dark alleyway. You can have a conversation with him, and when you turn around to offer him a cup of coffee, he's already gone.
